More Wall Crumbles

Some time over Christmas (or even beforehand) the Lord's Garden wall on to the Cunning Gren collapsed at its narrowest point on the path, below. No one can be sure exactly when, as the path has remained closed for some time.

The section of the Lord's Garden wall above the Cunning Green was blocked off  'as a precaution' back in March 2022. Since then, there've been assessments, there was a concern that the wall was moving outwards and that the remedy would cost upwards of £300,000. As a result, the footpath which closed because of the castle wall collapse remained shut. In spite of complaints about that closure, it's just as well that it was.

It's suspected that the recent rains have contributed to the shift.

It should perhaps be noted that engineers were never especially happy during the recent period when the Cunning Green was reopened, citing fresh cracking.
