And Talking of Jumble...

... as we were yesterday, there was actually a jumble sale, also yesterday. I haven't been to one of those for over 40 years. Whatever happened to them? I suspect their role has been largely obscured by the rise in town centre charity shops. The burgeoning of such outlets has been important to town centre survival, filling otherwise empty units. It used to be about ethical shopping and the circular economy. Now, it's also about the cost of living.

Resource actually still *is* about the circular economy and ethical trading. As well as upcycling, recycling and whatnot, they also wish to run the Crown House café, employing there staff who are struggling to find work.

Really great to see the former Barlcay's in use again. The bank closed in April 2018, after which the building's been empty

The jumble sale was at the Resource unit on Lôn Parcwr. I knew they'd opened in the former Barclay's (last weekend, from Saturday 24th) but had no idea they ran a unit on the industrial estate.

There were actually people parked up outside Resource by 9.45 am for the 10 am start. Inside, it was fairly predictable: heaped tables and stuffed rails of clothing and bric-a-brac, all unsorted, at ridiculously cheap prices. But you did sense that this was left over even from the Children's Society.

Elsa Frischer meets First Choice (remember them?)... inside Resource we see a colourful store of art materials, stationary and more besides
