Quilting Among the Buildings

I had to see what all this quilting fuss was about and was surprised to find that it was something of a modern art form that would be as much at home in the Craft Centre as in the town centre. If only the Craft Centre supported local community art (it does not).

This was a good use of three different venues: St Peter's, Nantclwyd y Dre and The Old Courthouse and it is perhaps a principle we should use again: stationing parts of an exhibition at a number of locations. There was a vibrancy about the places that these days you rarely see in a town whose space is increasingly filled with traffic moving and parked, not people.  Those at Nantclwyd were designed as if to be in harmony with each respective room and, actually, they looked very much at home, as if they'd always been there.

The most prodigious was at St Peter's. The best, the most mathematic and the most moving without a doubt were in Yr Hen Lys.

We're not sure whether the 'artwork' at the entrance to St Peter's, above, was part of the exhibition, or not.
