Garden Now All Rosy

The county council has just about finished at the new Llanrhydd community garden and it's showing much promise. The clay-lined pond already has diving beetles and the supervisor believed that it wouldn't take till the end of the current season to see several species of dragonfly. Fencing and a locked gate keep damaging dogs out.

The gazebo has an unseen bat-friendly roof, allowing bats to roost or to use it as a 'chrèche' for their young while they continually hunt for insects to feed it, said the supervisor.

Benches are from unmanaged forest land and manufactured somewhere near Abergele using traditional methods. Three of the four picnic tables are on site. To come is an orchard to add to the trees and hedges planted before Christmas 2021.

Part of the site will be allowed to grow wild, to encourage inspects.
