Franklin Makes its Mark

After being removed from the main road

We might've gotten away with storm Eunice but storm Franklin overnight on Sunday and till mid-afternoon yesterday caught us unawares. It was much more destructive than Eunice. Trees down on the B5105, near Llanfair (taking cables with it) and Mold Road, just at the time Ysgol Brynhyfryd would have opened, had it not been the half term holidays. The tree down near Brynhfryd could've caused serious injury had there been pedestrian pupils.
Near Pentrecoch

The River Clwyd flooded part of Cae Ddol and there was again run off from the field there into the lake. Nothing serious, though. Similarly, the Clwyd did burst its banks at Glasdir but only by yards either side, as evidenced by the tide marks in this shot this morning.

Evidence of over-topping on both banks

The tide mark suggests the extent of localised surface flooding

Floodgates came out on Mill Street, in spite of the recently completed NRW work
