Work started yesterday on removing the stunted conifers unsuccessfully screening Ysgol Brynhyfryd's lodge. The ineffective conifer screen was designed to hide the state of the building but it didn't work.
It's half term and, once the conifers are gone, the school is at last to tackle the problem that is its lodge. It was once used for storage but, in recent times, it's simply been allowed to rot (quite literally).
The work, however, will not mean a restoration of this Grade II-listed building. It will, however, aim to stabalise the structure, saving it, perhaps, for future conservation. It isn't Rhuthun/Ruthin's prettiest building, though.
