Preliminary work has started on the so-called Phase 2 of the Glasdir housing estate. Passers by (such as there are) can now see a large totem inviting them to register their interest.

Taylor Wimpey's agents have all but cleared the site, having smashed up the concrete slab footings which have been extant and resolute since the Great Flood of 2012. Planning permission is expected at or by the end of the year, for a spring 2019 start on site, for 42 three- and four-bed homes.

Just like at the beginning of the first phase, Taylor Wimpey has gotten it wrong, again. On its website, it states, "With the small yet lively towns of Glasdir and Ruthin just a short distance away, this beautiful spot combines idyllic scenery with the epitome of convenience to create the perfect place to call home."

We're not sure where the *town* of Glasdir is located and whether, in fact, it has any amenities at all other than two schools, an agricultural mart and a smelly wood product manufacturer.

And this statement stretches things: "Take in the history of Ruthin Castle and the remains of Celtic and Roman settlements..." And, clearly, no one at Taylor Wimpey's looked at a road atlas: "For those who drive, Ruthin is conveniently located on the A494, which takes you straight to Chester or Colwyn Bay". And, why is Bae Colwyn suddenly so important? Perhaps it's because of the new £50mil Conwy county borough council offices...
