No one can tell me why Rupert's No. 6 has closed. The signage in the window simply reads "Closed until Further Notice". So, is this long or short term? It could be as simple as the chef leaving. We all know chefs can be temperamental at the best of times but if the food side isn't doing all it should be then that may see a chef leave.
My own experiences of Rupert's No. 6 were good on the two occasions I went there, once for lunch and for an evening meal.
One off-putting point was that there invariably seemed to be some sort of hippy stood outside and that probably did the business no flavours let alone favours.
Or, and this is my guess, this could be something more fundamental. The numbers never seemed to be high within and perhaps the proprietrix is cutting her losses. That said, businesses such as this need time to establish themselves. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that.
