It was to be part of a birthday present. I wanted to support the local bookshop. I ordered the book in plenty of time. After one week and one day, I hadn't heard. I went back to the Spread Eagle Bookshop. It hadn't arrived. There was a problem with the supplier. The owner Mrs Kenyon Thompson was frustrated by that. She wasn't the only one. She promised to chase. I needed it on or by August 2nd. She only opens Wednesdays to Saturdays inclusive. I had no confidence it would arrive. So, I did what perhaps most people these days would've done in the first place: I ordered it off Amazon... and had to pay the postage.
