No title

When the council proposed an annual charge to collect garden waste, everyone locally seemed to think the sky would fall in. At that time, we contrasted the front pages of the Denbighshire Free Press and Rhyl Journal. Both were (and are) owned by the same stable and we brought attention to the difference of approach. The Free Press was outraged; the Journal more measured.

The group owning both titles has changed hands and economies resulted in the same editor at both.  Nearly four years later and there is no contract between their front pages... because they're identical in terms of headline and story.

The Rhyl Journal has joined the Free Press in its outraged approach. Yet, unlike the Free Press, the Journal doesn't have to try quite as hard to get readership.

How we reported the 2014 green bin non-controversy. Four years later, we're all quite content with the change. We'll get used to the new proposals, too
