B & M Bargains Sharpens Stale Sales

The changes at B & M are very visible. First, the flooring's had a deep clean. well, the first aisle looks as if the flooring's had its dirt redistributed. Other than that, though, the floor looks cleaner.

Secondly, welcome to a better stocked store. It's now positively bursting with items to buy and the shop feels more like a cornucopia than the discounter it really is. The shelves are fuller and, outside the grocery aisles, there's been a minor move-around. There's better use of the former Coleman's‡ alcove, usually commissioned at Christmas, which now houses stationery and motor products.

And, finally, the store's now open longer. It opens at 8 rather than 9 a.m. It closes at 7 ratehr than 6 p.m.

So, why all these changes? We can only speculate. Is it possibly a reaction to a loss of interest in the store following the opening in Dinbyvh of the huge Home Bargains hypermarket? A need to sharpen up its act in the face of such formidable competition? We know that people from Dinbych visited Rhuthun/Ruthin's B & M and we can only presume that they no longer do.
