This well-presented pillar box in Tarfyn/Tarvin (between Caer/Chester and Cryw*/Crewe), above, and the brand new letter box in a brand new location awaiting commission at Llanrhaeadr yng Nghinmeirch contrast considerably with those found in Rhuthun/Ruthin town and suburbs. They're vivid, bright and they stand out.
If only that were true in Rhuthun. The four pillar boxes one each on St Peter's Square, Well Street, Park Road and Lôn Parcwr are in something of a state. And the letter boxes dotted around our housing estates are not much better.
The Rhuthun pillar boxes could do with a rub down and a lick of paint. Then, they would add considerably to the streetscene in which the Royal Mail placed them. Is it too much to hope?
*—we're not sure whether this is the correct Welsh spelling of Crewe or indeed whether there *is* a Welsh spelling at all but it's the one Trenau Arifa Cymru uses on its screens at railway station in North Wales.
