New Website

Launching on Thursday will be the town's new Visit Ruthin website plus, at long last, the official launch of the new logo. That logo's taken well over a year to get out there and we thought it had been quietly dumped. Not so. At first, we were a little disparaging about it but I have to say that it does grow on you, especially with the added silhouette of St Peter's spire.

As for the website, visitruthin.wales, we've been privileged to have an unofficial viewing, a couple of days early. It's a stunner. It's a promotional tool that brings Rhuthun/Ruthin's marketing effort into the 21st century. It's also reactive (which means it will be viewable on all devices but as smart phones).

It's owned by the town council but funded by many others.

It replaces former mayor Gavin Harris's visitruthin.com, first registered in 2007 and active from 2008. That site was so modern at the time but has since been eclipsed. It hasn't changed much in all those years. It isn't responsive, either.

If there are any criticisms of the new site, they're these: first, it only promotes certain businesses; there aren't nearly enough within its database. Secondly, most of the images have headers in white on light backgrounds that make them difficult to see.
