FTTC has Arrived—for some

At 10 a.m. this morning, they announced that superfast broadband had arrived—at least for some in Rhuthun/Ruthin. The early adopting fortunate few were connected to wiring cabinets 5 and 6 (parts of Llanfwrog Urban, Dro Deg and Parc y Castell areas). Those in other parts, including those directly connected to the exchange itself, will still have to wait a wee while. But it won't be long.

What is interesting—and unexpected—is that the speed you get decreases quickly the further you are from a cabinet. Take Rhuthun cabinet no. 6. This is the first to be set up for FTTC fibre broadband. Properties on Porth y Dre and Tyn y Parc close to the cabinet receive 80 Mbps. A little further away, on Llain Goch, subscribers at no. 1 would get 68 Mpbs and those at no. 16 get just 40 Mbps.

But what's this "It looks like that you can get..." gibberish?
