Round Town with Uptown

Lewis Electrics on Lôn Parcwr closed a year ago. In November 2009, it had rented out part of its building to Uptown Furnishing and, today, this too will close.

Uptown was late of Well Street. It started business in May 2007. Unlike its Lôn Parcwr Lewis premises, Uptown was not satisfied with its town centre shop, because of a lack of adjacent parking.

The word is that Uptown would have preferred to stay put at Lôn Parcwr. Upon the closure of Lewis, its proprietor Peter Lewis had to serve a year's notice on Uptown and Uptown decided to hold Lewis to that time period.

Uptown searched for new premises and found them at the Gallery, Park Road (formerly Urbanbuild Northern, before that literally a gallery and, even before that, a coin-operated laundrette) where it has been making things ready and, recently, running both premises side-by-side. On October 24th, today, however, it must vacate its Lôn Parcwr warehouse and this will leave the Lewis building completely empty.

Hearsay suggests that after a further year (for tax reasons), Lewis will sell to Wern Vets who already own adjacent premises on Lôn Parcwr, something Wern Vets use for large animals and horses. It's supposed that Wern Vets will then close its Greenfield Road surgery & head office, adjacent to the Old Station Yard Roundabout, centralising on the two nearby premises on Lôn Parcwr.
