First Impressions Count

I had to, really. Just couldn't help it. Poke my nose in to see inside Wetherspoon's, that is. It was lunchtime yesterday and it was already busy within. I reckon a lot of people were like me, just taking a look but, unlike me, plenty of them were also actually buying.

There's been quite a change round. Where once that antique organ stood in what was basically a corridor there's now a repositioned bar. A number of gaming machines adorn the place. The areas visible through the front windows are quite light in nature but towards the backs it seems to become typically Wetherspoon's, with darker colours and darker wooden paneling. At least the yellowish distemper's gone. Indeed, parts of the place actually seem darker as a Wetherspoon's than the former incarnation. The typically rustic, olde worlde uncharming restaurant tables and chairs have vanished (diolch byth), replaced with something much more stylish.

All in all, a good impression. It looks (and smells) very fresh, clean and tidy, naturally. And the peeling wallpaper on the ceiling is no more (no, we're not referring to the infamous incident where the listed ceiling was torn down).
