Castle Developments

Here's an interesting thing. The Wrexham Saver Card, a loyalty scheme not dissimilar to our own Cerdyn Bro Rhuthun Card but run as a business has a new member, as of 13th July. As far as we are aware, it's the first Rhuthun/Ruthin business to join the Wrecsam scheme. It's Castell Rhuthun Castle. Do correct me if I'm wrong but the Castle hasn't partaken of Bro Rhuthun's own loyalty scheme. Before you say that people in Rhuthun are unlikely to stay at the Castle, what about dining?

May be the Castle might consider joining the Bro Rhuthun loyalty scheme to "sell" its walls to locals at a slightly reduced rate. Were you aware that for £49 you can actually buy part of the 13th century fortifications? Or, rather, you can buy into the walls to help their upkeep. Although the Castle covers its costs in terms of the splendid hotel, conserving the walls is a very different matter. In truth, they'll cost a million or so to preserve properly for future generations and they're already thought to be deteriorating quite a bit.

You can pay by PayPal or credit card to download a registration certificate. The website says, "Ruthin Castle is over 700 years old, built for King Edward I and is one of the few forming the 'iron ring' of Welsh castles. No less than four of these castles are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, hailed as some of the greatest architectural achievements of their time"... and this kind of implies the Castle is itself a world heritage site (it isn't). May be that's what comes of going to Thailand for your website design!! (Though the refreshed 2010 site design isn't bad at all, as it happens).

Incidentally, am I right that all is rather quiet on the Cerdyn Bro Rhuthun Card front?
