Back to the 70s

It must be a sign of getting old when you see and recognise 1970s style tea sets on display as antiques. That's only 30-40 years ago! Two shops currently have them. Cornerpost Antiques, Well Street, is displaying three of the seventies' finest. The other is Sweet Pea Collectables.

Sweet Pea Collectables? It opened a week ago today, in the courtyard off Clwyd Street, near Prints & Plains. It's in the former La Pizza or rather La Pizza's entrance and kitchen area. The upstairs seating area of this once renowned restaurant is now a flat. Sweet Pea apparently started as an internet business and continues as such, in some corner of the web. Sweet Pea is a well stocked shop in the semi-chaotic style you expect to see with this genre. Better stocked than the food shelves at B & M this week and also better than a number of freezers in the Co-op, part empty after a fault.

The courtyard makes a good location for flats. That two of the three shop units have remained unlet for nearly a decade might indicate it isn't so good for shops. Nevertheless, here we have another empty unit now taken and I would encourage readers to support the venture.
