The Rhuthun/Ruthin Scarecrow Trail begins tomorrow, Monday. The organisers proclaim this as a "site to behold". We trust they're right. So far, there are just three on display, including the window-cleaning "advert" now back above Well Street, after a spell outside the National Farmers' Union insurance offices.
If this seems like a poor show, that in the Well Street Pharmacy window is numbered 10 and the other, in Reebee's Florist, 108. I trust this means there are at last 105 others, yet to appear. Organiser Ymlaen Rhuthun Forward has put in much effort and it would be a pity if this was unrewarded. We suspect (and hope) other businesses and residents are keeping their powder (and straw) dry till tomorrow, even f most will be bind glass. Next week looks set fair.
Meanwhile, we perhaps need to consider the poor old crows who, over the next week, having been scared off will need to scavenge elsewhere than the centre of Rhuthun, or so we trust.
