Tell Me Why...

... I don’t like Mondays.

Did you take advantage of the bright sunny day, yesterday, perhaps with a stroll around Rhuthun's shops? The temperature in town peaked at 18°, not bad for an October day.

In January, we posted on the shop situation on a Monday. Has anything changed?

"Tell me why I don’t like Mondays,
I wanna shoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oot the whole day down"

Leaving aside the so-called hairdressers’ weekend, the following were closed yesterday:

• Capricorn charity shops (new shop since last survey)
• Simmi (newly closed on Mondays)
• Gareth Lynch (newly closed on Mondays)
• Hide Away (newly closed on Mondays)
• Elysium (new shop since last survey)
• Blossom’s
• Annie’s
• Spread Eagle Books
• Lizzie Whizzy (new shop since last survey)
• Rhuthun Wholefoods
• Goble Chiropodists
• Steptoe’s

There were two shops closed on Mondays in January that are sadly no longer with us: Traed Bach & Sweetie Heaven. Mococo was open yesterday, whereas in January it was not.

The prognosis? Eight shops in total closed in January, of which two have now closed permanently. This increased to 12 Monday closures in October. Both months are outside the peak tourist season.
