New Outlets—Sort of

We welcome Popty’r Eryr (Eagle’s Bakery) at the back of the former Eagles Hotel. The entrance is a little obscure, down a perhaps less-than-edifying alley between Fineline and Wildcatz, off Clwyd Street, but the journey's worth it. The artisan baker is making use of the facilities once used both by the Eagles Stores & its offshoots, and Crown House. Crown House vacated the premises when the Craft Centre had its opening, where Crown House and CafĂ© R currently cooks and bakes.

The baker is said to bake all his own products there. The reintroduction of a Rhuthun baker! Isn’t that something that’s definitely worth supporting. Popty’r Eryr opened 11 days ago.

The old Eagles Stores never used to use an apostrophe but I feel that it was the Eagles’ (plural) Stores, not Eagle’s (singular) Stores. In which case, should the baker be Popty’r Eryrod/Eagles’ Bakery, not Popty’r Eyry/Eagle’s Bakery? No doubt someone will Know better than I.

The other new outlet is the opening, as last year, of a charity shop in the former Anrhegion/Leonardo’s/Old Co-op, just about on the Square, from today for one week only.
