Give us a Wave

The recent comments on the Canolfan Crefftau building that have become just a little personal set me thinking. It may be a trivial point for some but it's nonetheless a symptom of another decline in standards, however slight. People of Rhuthun, why are there now so few of us willing to 'thank' an on-coming motorist giving way at parked cars to let you pass? A friendly wave is all it takes. This was once by far the norm 20 and even 10 years ago. We've now reached a point where in about half the cases the passing motorist doesn't even look at the one who yielded, let alone pass an acknowledgement. With more (illegally) parked cars on Well Street and Clwyd Street, with cars double parking on Mwrog Street, vehicles dropping off at the town hall, with cars waiting at Castle Bell for their lottery tickets or newspapers, more parking on Wrexham & Llanfair Roads, and with residents often now parking on Park Road near Wernfechan, a little courtesy goes a long way in promoting good behaviour on the road. Is Rhuthun really no better than the south of England, where we're told general common decency is in rapid decline and where motorists barge through uncaring and regardless?
