If there’s one road that requires a complete do-over, it’s Bryn Goodman. There are more potholes in so-called Jumbo Hill than craters on the moon. The fabric of this private road’s so poor in places that it’s worn away the top layer completely. There’s an old kerb line in one place that shows through. Given that it’s a major pedestrian route for Ysgol Brynhyfryd pupils, it’s surprising that there aren’t any claims for broken ankles. Yesterday, hopes were raised that there’d be a major resurfacing but instead the contractor simply did some patching up.

If there’s one thing that the road’s condition accomplishes, it’s keeping speeds down on what amounts to the third most desirable place to live in Rhuthun & the surrounding area. But imagine what would happen if we were all responsible for maintaining the road outside our homes…
