Any Minute Now

Ignore those who say B&M Bargains Stores is set to open on Saturday—or Monday at the latest. It’s likely to open later today.

B&M Discount Stores leases the old KwikSave site from Somerfield. Staff within will seem familiar—they have all transferred from Somerfield.

B&M Stores has meanwhile announced its opening times—up to 5.30p.m. on weekdays and between 10a.m. and 4p.m. on Sundays. It’s the first non-grocery store to be open generally in the town on Sundays since clothes shop Ethel Austin abandoned trading on that day, upon its refurbishment.

It’s been a long time coming but the restaurant at the former cinema (Warren’s Happy Shopper and also dance studio) is to open in exactly one week’s time.

Meanwhile, there’s a sign in the window of *Dinbych’s* branch of Dodd’s Property World that says the estate agent is ‘presently closed’. Passing trade is referred to the internet or the Rhuthun branch.
The Rhuthun branch, though, is currently shut and undergoing a transformation before it passes to the small family-run chain of Molyneux branches.

We’d say that Dodd’s, as K Hugh Dodd & Partners, has been in Rhuthun, in the same spot, for nearly 40 years. Dodd’s has always seemed to be part of the furniture, so to speak. The building society agent side of the business moved from the front of the sop to Upper Clwyd Street about 6 years ago. One of the three Dodd’s partners lives near Rhuthun.
