Lights, Action

Electrical contractors pause as they string bulbs along the Square's treesIt’s with some relief that today the Christmas curtain lights went up in Rhuthun. It seemed that they weren’t going to happen, even though last weekend a gang had been checking the wires slung between buildings.

For the last two years and now this, there’ve been curtain decos strung across Well Street, Clwyd Street and the top of Market Street, in addition to the traditional Christmas trees.

Because the usual Christmas trees were lit on Wednesday—on St Peter’s Square, near Dyffryn Service Station, Wernfechan and at Mwrog Street/Lôn Fawr. As a commenter pointed out, that on the so-called Briec roundabout had been up all year, in anticipation.

Wednesday’s lighting of the trees did rather look like that would be it. Also up today were the usual lights on the trees in St Peter’s Square.
