Welsh with Everything

Assembly member for culture & the Welsh language Alun Pugh (also representing the town of Ruthin) has praised Tesco management for its bilingual policy it will use in the town's store - when it arrives. "It is good to see Tesco setting a good example" said Mr Pugh.

Tesco managers had met with Mr Pugh over joint Welsh-English signage and related issues. Tesco is said to "actively" encourage staff to learn Welsh, working closely with the WLB on "ensuring they (staff) are put in touch with classes". Might've been better for Tesco to plan to hold such classes in store.

Tesco may be "setting a good example" but Mr Pugh does come under criticism for his views that such matters can be left to negotiation and chance.
