A Co-op spokeswoman confirmed today that the forthcoming closure of its Porthmadog store in September 2005 was a direct result of the new Tesco in that town. The decision affects 16 part time and seven full time jobs.
Co-op has served Porthmadog for 20 years and had only recently upgraded its point-of-sale technology, well ahead of its Rhuthun/Ruthin counterpart.
