Counting Chickens?

Still at the Rhuthun/Ruthin telephone exchange—perhaps the person who put this up realised it wasn't worth taking it down

So, we were right. Ysgol Llanbedr stays open on "technicalities". Reported in yesterday's Daily Post, the minister was satisfied that the Local Authority has a coherent educational case for the closure of the school and the transfer of pupils elsewhere. Informed sources tell this Blog that 95 per cent of the minister's report was in favour of closure but that those who received the report. This resulted in the minister being "in broad agreement with the proposal" and that he expected the local authority to "consider the future of the school carefully".

Expect this next bit not to go down at all well. Such consideration is what Denbighshire appears to be doing, for a possible further closure attempt in July 2016 rather than 2015.  This, councillors will consider on February 17th.  The minister stated that a schools below 30 pupils result in "consequences for education provision".

Meanwhile, Ysgol Llanbedr is going on a recruitment campaign. Here's a full-page advert in last week's Free Press whereas, later today, expect front page, for very different reasons. And the village is peppered with "Arbedwyd" banners.

Did the community win? It certainly doesn't sound like it, not if on a technicality.
