Load of Bollards

This simple but effective solution has done much to tidy up a somewhat messy part of Rhuthun.

Last week, the council erected a number of bollards around the pavement surrounding the open space where Clwyd Street and Upper Clwyd Street fork. It’s here that cars have increasingly parked unlawfully. The bollards, no doubt, were to improve road safety, to ensure cars do not drive off the public space blindly into vehicles descending Clwyd Street, or reverse off into a pedestrian.

The side effect as been to free the triangle of the unsightly blight of parked cars. We’ve mentioned before that increasingly motorists will just dump their cars anywhere, to the detriment of the built environment.

Now that the area is car free, perhaps we will see this small open space improved further. It does need a bit of a facelift, perhaps in preparation for the Tom Pryce memorial.
